This is a great post. when I was a child and then as a teenager, I would listen to recordings by artists like Chaka Kahn and Stevie Wonder and marvel at the nuances they puy into their vocal presentations. I would fall in love with a song and sing it over and over until I could duplicate the artist's presentation, but with my voice. Then, I would sing with the record, nuance for nuance, only in harmony. As a result of that practice, I always have a tendency to make the song my own.
